Make a stub
FAQ

Questions, answered

If yours isn't here, ask below and you'll get an answer straight away.

How much does a pay stub cost?

$3.99 a stub. A Year Pass is $29 and covers every stub for one employee through December 31, plus their W-2. Previews and edits cost nothing.

How are the taxes worked out?

Federal withholding follows the 2026 percentage method in IRS Publication 15-T, using the standard deduction for the filing status you pick. Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500 of wages, Medicare is 1.45% plus 0.9% above $200,000, and state tax uses a rate you can edit. Treat every figure as an estimate and compare it with your payroll records.

How is year-to-date calculated?

PaystubLine replays every pay date from January 1 to the stub's pay date at your pay frequency. YTD totals come out exact for a regular schedule, and Social Security stops at the wage base on the right paycheck.

What is the verification code?

Every paid stub carries a code. A landlord, lender or the employee can enter it at paystubline.com/verify and see the company, pay date and net pay we issued. It tells them the stub came from PaystubLine unaltered.

I use another generator. Can I switch mid-year?

Yes. Type the YTD totals from your last stub into the first PaystubLine stub and tick 'I'm switching' at checkout. That stub is free.

Who is PaystubLine for?

Employers, household employers and business owners documenting wages they actually paid. We refuse orders for stubs that don't match real payments.

What does the Year Pass cover?

Every stub for one employee from today to December 31, plus that employee's W-2 in January. $29 once, no renewal.

Do I pay to preview?

No. Edit and preview as much as you like. You pay when you download the clean PDFs.

Can I fix a stub after buying?

Yes. Corrections are free for 30 days. If a figure was wrong because of our math, you also get a full refund.

Is there a subscription?

Only if you want one. Business is $19 a month for up to 25 employees, with W-2s and 1099s included. Cancel any time.

Is my data stored?

Only what is needed to deliver and verify your stubs: employer and employee names, the figures on each stub and your email. We print only the last four digits of an SSN and never ask for the full number.

Do you file payroll taxes for me?

No. PaystubLine produces pay stubs and year-end forms. You stay responsible for depositing and filing payroll taxes, or your accountant does.

Will you make a stub for income I didn't receive?

No. Stubs must match wages actually paid. Orders that look like fabricated income are refused and refunded.
